Susanne Marins
Susanne Marins is an actor and singer-songwriter from Vasa, Finland. She graduated from the Theatre Academy in Helsinki 2005, after which she has worked as an actor in Helsinki, Turku and Vasa. Wasa Theatre is her home-stage, where she has performed in some of her most memorable roles: Pippi Longstocking, the silent Katrine in Mother Courage and Berit in the hugely popular musical Gambämark.
About 10 years ago Susanne started writing her own music, inspired by her poems. She wanted to tell her stories, about things that touched her. She sings about complicated relationships, about death and sorrow, odd details in life and the importance of encounters. In 2017 she wrote a Twin Peaks-inspired song when the cult series re-premiered again after 25 years. Last autumn her song Fjäälin, a tribute to her childhood landscape, became a hit. The song was played frequently on Finnish radio stations. In 2019 she made an multi-art project about loss: the Kintsugi Art-films, a collaboration with the Finnish photographer Patricia Rodas and the American sound artist Dråsa. ”Susanne Marins’ performance as Pippi is bouncy and full of luminosity, with energetic braids and odd socks. A bundle of energy with notes of vulnerability, Susanne’s Pippi lives through moments of loss and longing under the evening stars.” "In the words and the notes, in the modulations of the voice and song of the guitar billow the hard tumbles of life and power of the human to rise again. The singing voice turns warm when it describes love, elusive when the humour comes into play in the words and the melody. Susanne created a magical evening” Contact:
